Abanidi, thank you for your insight on the "English Law" thread!
I come from a line of more-recent-than-most Danish immigrants, who did not speak a bit of English until they decided to move to America. Upon moving to America, they learned English and integrated into American culture.
We didn't lose our culture or native language, just adopted American culture and the English language. No one in my family feels ashamed of this.
Long before we immigrated here and even now my family has been blessed with many authors, even writing of the journey of my great-grandparents on their way to America. All the books that were published here were in English. We've always been taught that writing or speaking in anything other than English in public is rude, and I believe that myself.
I am forever and always, first and foremost, an American. My ethnic culture comes second. We should all be proud to be American first.
